Union Bank of India on saturday 1st Oct. launched the Union Learning Academies, a network of nine learning and development “Centers of Excellence” (CoEs) (ULAs). Ms. A. Manimekhalai, MD & CEO, launched the academies today in Mumbai as part of Union Prerna, the bank’s renowned HR Transformation project.
The project aims to redesign the current Learning and Development (L&D) ecosystem in order to create a future-ready talent pool with skill sets that complement the bank’s vision and make learning more inclusive, innovative, and inspiring. These ULAs will focus on specialised domains such as Leadership Development, Corporate Business, Credit, Risk Management, Strategy, Agri-finance, Sales & Marketing, Operations, and Digitalization to achieve this goal. The bank has strategically ensured that these CoEs are established in Bangalore, Mangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Gurgaon across India.

Ms. Manimekhalai emphasised the importance of all Unionites having industry-best skill sets at the launch event. She congratulated all ULA teams for embarking on this journey of establishing the academies. She also congratulated everyone on Union Bank of India reaching the 18-lac crore mark today.
The ULAs will provide training on industry-leading skills through dedicated and specialised internal as well as external trainers, with the goal of transforming the Union Bank of India into a continuous learning organisation. The ULAs will also collaborate with other institutes to provide cutting-edge training using cutting-edge methodologies, as well as a robust pool of certifications for bank employees.
With this launch, the Union Bank of India hopes to provide global best-in-class learning opportunities to all employees throughout their careers at the bank, as well as to build a succession pipeline.
