Recently, the Delhi High court in Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd. vs. Sandeep Gupta W.P.C. No. 6708/2003, placing reliance on the terms of the appointment letter issued to the trainee, observed that the trainee, cannot after the expiry of the training period automatically acquire the status of a permanent/regular employee, unless the rules or letter of appointment or service agreement expressly provides.
