The antidotes in the form of vaccines are fairly evolved, even though they may not be perfect. The case of Covid-19 is clearly different.

Ailments are no strange experiences on this planet and many ailments whenever they began have continued to keep re-occurring in some form. The examples of Cholera, Smallpox, Tuberculosis and several others are abundant examples. However, they were all and continue to be geography specific, at the time of their manifestations. They do rotate but seldom cover almost the whole planet concurrently. The research on them has gone on for years and sometimes decades. The antidotes in the form of vaccines are fairly evolved, even though they may not be perfect. The case of Covid-19 is clearly different. Its near universality, much unpredictability, limits of scientific enquiry to fully understand its character are palpable.

The present phase is, perhaps, a uniquely evolved stage of the virus. It is generally known as Omicron with a, reportedly, high intensity of transfer-ability and comparatively lower scale of intensity as compared to the Delta variant. Sometimes one hears of yet other transmutations.

They do rotate but seldom cover almost the whole planet concurrently. The research on them has gone on for years and sometimes decades. The antidotes in the form of vaccines are fairly evolved, even though they may not be perfect.

Notwithstanding the reportedly, low intensity of the Omicron variant, some of the antidotes, sound to a layman, as anti-allergy treatment. Be that as it may, there are number of cases of infection of people who have received two doses of the vaccine. A general feeling amongst the well informed is that one may be fortunate not to get infected but the infection does not necessarily follow a predictable route. Be that as it may, it has created a widespread feeling of anxiety amongst the informed. Precaution and pre-emption seem to be the key. However even there, there are many areas of varying interpretation on how the virus would travel. Wearing masks, keeping a distance of 2 meters seems to be the bottom-line of precaution. A commentary on this kind of a situation may not necessarily help. People are ultimately driven by their own grasp of reality, their mindset on structures and processes of transmission and their own ability to live caution. Other infectious diseases, say typically HIV has been known to multiply because of an absence of suitable temperamental trade-off between risk perception and emotional urges. A common response has been diagnosed as:” it can’t happen to me”.Covid-19 could be no different.

The above narrative cannot pre-empt the need for looking for more effective responses and a strategy to cope with the threat. That search has to go on. A prime determinant will be the individual’s basic orientation. People are patient and impatient to varying degrees. People are harsh or soft-spoken to various degrees. People can understand the other person’s temperament and be tolerant to it to varying degrees.
