With the time changes, everyone gets to go into a sort of transformation process. It is law of nature. People who do not change and adapt according to time, they are left behind. So is the case with the managers. Yes, The new age managers. Certainly, it can be said that the basic traits of managers irrespective of time boundaries, will remain same. As the generation changes, they bring new thoughts and mindset with them at workplace. Businesses also change with time. New age businesses need new age managers to understand each other and work on the same wavelength. The key is the compatibility. Pandemic has accelerated the process. Old age manager may not find itself comfortable with today’s ecosystem in which businesses operate.

The new age manager has to be people centric. The organization restricted only to developing the managers with technical skill set earlier, are now after pandemic have changed the course to develop human capital with extra empathy and concern.

The digital revolution took place in the society and business organisations have given less time to managers to understand and cope with the change. Many fronts have been opened up. It is the time of transparency and democratization of information. New age managers have to understand the challenges and complexities of this phenomenon and find out innovative ways to handle it.
The new age manager has to work upon building up capabilities of seeing the invisible and breaking the barriers. He has to understand the difference between why and why not. Apart of acquiring core time tested managerial skills, he needs to develop power of influence , emotional intelligence and communicate with its people with simplicity and courage even in difficult and worst times.
This is the time of technology and automation where importance only to technical skill sets is given. In this rat race, importance to mind set is somewhere sidelined or forgotten. It will be a big mistake. Mindset of in depth understanding of valuing people as asset and not mere resource, finding the numerous hidden possibilities in them and persuade them to bring out their best is very much required. He has to develop a deeper sense of purpose and make people aligned with that shared goal of business purpose. The new age manager who will be ready to learn every time in all situations will be having a competitive edge.
