Private sector is to comply with the government guidelines of accessibility under the Disabilities Act: Chief Commissioner for Person with Disabilities court

The Court of Chief Commissioner of Person with Disabilities in Rahul Bajaj vs. Practo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Case No. 13205/1102/2022, on August 28, 2022,  while reaffirming the applicability of legal requirements and guidelines on accessibility as prescribed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (“Disabilities Act“), observed that private establishments is bound to comply with guidelines on accessibility of website, apps and other Information & Communication Technology platforms in terms of Rule 15 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017 and also in terms of Section 46 read with Section 40 of the Disabilities Act.
