One Week Online National Case Writing and Teaching with Cases Workshop held at SVVV

Case Writing and Teaching with Cases Workshop was organized by Shri Vaishnav School of Management, Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya Indore from May 08-12, 2023, in online mode. The workshop was organized in association with Association of Indian Management Schools, National HRD Network, Indian Society for Training and Development and Institutions Innovation Council. The objectives of the case writing workshop were to develop case writing skills of the participants, to encourage use of case method as a pedagogical tool by providing rich inputs for improving the analytical skills of the participants.In view of the inadequacy of suitable case literature reflecting Indian situations, the workshop aimed at developing and publishing case studies for use in teaching and training sessions.

Five Days Workshop started with brief introduction of workshop in forenoon session followed by online interaction of groups of faculty members with representatives of various organizations in afternoon session of day one. Day two started with a review of information collected on day one by all groups while the second half of the day was for on learning how to draft cases. The third day started with preparation of a second draft copy of cases by group of faculty members followed by case clinic. Here how to share quality content was discussed by the facilitators. In day four facilitators discussed teaching with cases to all the participants and their queries were solved accordingly. All the sessionswere kept interactive so better understanding of pedagogy can be learned. Participants shared their various experiences while interacting with corporate professionals. The last day was kept for sharing final presentation by each group of faculty members and feedback by the facilitators.
Facilitators of the Case Writing Workshop were Dr. Upinder Dhar and Dr. Santosh Dhar. Dr. Upinder Dhar is the First Vice Chancellor of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya Indore. Earlier he was Group Additional Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University and First Vice Chancellor, JK Laxmipath University. A Fellow of ISTD and a strong proponent of Case Method, Dr. Dhar was conferred Ravi J Matthai National Fellow Award by Association of Indian Management Schools and AIMA-Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education -2022. Dr. Santosh Dhar is Rector, Dean Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research and Coordinator Shri Vaishnav School of Management at Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya Indore. She has been engaged in teaching, research, corporate training, and consultancy for the last 42 years. Many research scholars have been awarded Ph. D degrees under her supervision. She has been panel of reviewers of the Oxford University Press.

Eleven participants (internal and external) from various institutes of India registered for the workshop were divided into four group and were allowed to interact online with the corporates likeAditya Birla Capital represented by Mr. Aaseem Dubey, Godrej Industries Limited represented by Mr. Amit Kapoor based at Mumbai and Havells Galaxy, leading Electrical Appliance Retail Outlet represented by Mr. Akshat Mantri. First Group was under leadership of Hon. Vice Chancellor Sir worked on experience sharing on a situation. A total of four case studies were developed during the case writing workshop. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Manish Joshi, Associate Professor- Marketing Area, Shri Vaishnav School of Management from Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya Indore. The Workshop concluded with feedback of participants and vote of thank by Coordinator.
