The process of building a pipeline of talented future leaders requires creating room for both internal and external candidates for each role. The internal leaders are known to appreciate values and culture of the organization as continuity whereas the freshness and learning from cross-companies ensures leap of growth pushing the speed creating a competitive edge.

How is the concept of next-gen leadership evolving in the face of current business situations?

RM Business leadership in every generation had been an imperative to lead business houses that always identified, nurtured, developed and led a next generation of leaders as ritual. The consideration for each generation had been the ability to involve the set of brighter people who are found more digitally savvy compared to previous set who are expected to be their guiding lights. The dichotomy in the present situation emerged due to the possession of digital competency in next-gen leaders compared to their bosses. Access to information, ease of usage of gadgets, adaptation to platforms made available on mobile and apps are found with new generation who are bringing up the learning curve their previous generation through “reverse mentoring” process.

Does that negate the importance of experiential element and wisdom of senior management? Not...
