Food delivery personnel attached with Swiggy, the Bengaluru-based food delivery platform, have launched an “indefinite strike” in Mumbai, asking increase in payout and improved working conditions as per media reports.
Swiggy unit of Rashtriya Karamchari Sena, the workers’ union affiliated to the Maharashtra-ruling Shiv Sena party has resorted to strike.
Videos of striking workers have been shared on social media where Swiggy workers could be seen taking out bike rallies with placards in a bid to highlight their demands. The strike has impacted the delivery operations in Mumbai area.

Delivery personnel grievances are that even after working for many years their income has not grown and their expenses have increased. Rather the income has reduced according to the striking video.
Delivery personnel’s earnings comprises of three units – the payout paid on each order that depends on the distance travelled, incentive pay and surge pay.
Swiggy and other such platform have earlier also been confronted with strike in Chennai and Delhi.
