In case of misconduct, inquiry is needed even in case of contractual employee

Supreme Court in U.P. State Road Transport Corporation &Ors. vs. Brijesh Kumar & Anr. SLP(C) No. 10546/2019on August 28, 2024, while reinstating a contractual employee terminated by the employer for committing misconduct without conducting a disciplinary inquiry observed that even in case of contractual employment the stigmatic termination order could not have been passed without following the principles of natural justice.
