People can break free from common traps or obstacles that are blocking their happiness by learning new coping skills. One needs to learn how to respond to negative emotions healthily.

Hope can be a desire for something to happen, a wish for things to change for the better, or a particular dream or aspiration. It is important to have hope in one’s life to look positively into one’s future. It is a major protective factor, which helps in tackling potentially dangerous ideation or intrusive thoughts. It reduces the feeling of helplessness, increases happiness, reduces stress, and thereby improves quality of life.

Hope is a personal phenomenon and hence, one mustn’t measure one’s goals through the yardsticks of others. Aspirations are personal and important for everyone. Existential perspectives advocate that suffering is an inherent part of life, which needs to be confronted, rather than avoided or amended. Positive psychology emphasizes adaptation to adversity by identifying the factors that favor good psychological adjustment, leading to good physical and mental health.
