Loneliness at workplace
Loneliness is an epidemic that faces all of us today. It isn’t discussed as much as it should be because it is often perceived as a personal failure, embarrassment or attention-seeking for the one experiencing it. While loneliness may not yet be considered for a medical or psychological diagnosis, its consequences are seen in poor behavioural health, physical maladies, and increased suicide rates (Goldstein, 2021). Individuals can experience loneliness in any sphere of their lives, personal to professional. Experiencing loneliness at work is a common phenomenon in the workspace. Scholarly literature on loneliness is central to the events of separation, loss, pain, and marginalization.
