Rajasthan High Court in Sushila Devi Jatav vs. State of Rajasthan, W.P. (C) No. 1269/2025, On February 5, 2025, emphasized that every employer must make a sincere effort to conclude the departmental inquiry proceedings initiated against a delinquent employee within a reasonable period by prioritizing such proceedings. As far as possible, it should be concluded within 6 months as the outer limit. If the employer is unable to conclude the inquiry within this timeframe due to unavoidable circumstances arising in the proceedings, efforts should be made to conclude the inquiry within a reasonably extended period, depending on the cause and the nature of the misconduct.
