Some of the industries and corporate leaders have underestimated the relevance of IR under the myth that IR is not relevant for the new age industries and white-collar employees. This myth needs to be busted.

What reasons do you attribute to the fact that Industrial relation skills which was considered as one of the most desired and pre-requisite skill for any HR person to succeed, has now become almost extinct?

PD In the current BANI world, Industrial relations is not only involved in managing the relationship between employers and employees, including areas such as collective bargaining, labour laws, union negotiations, dispute resolutions, etc. but also, with many external stake holders due to globalization and consumerization with rapid technological advancement. While it is true that the HR field has evolved over time, and there has been a shift in focus towards areas such as Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organisational Development, etc., in my view, Industrial Relations is both an Art and science and still hold relevance and it can never become extinct and it is more relevant prerequisite skill today than earlier not only for HR professionals but also for...
