Months after the infamous “CEO who fired employees over Zoom call” went viral, Better.com layoffs are back. As per reports, Better.com CEO Vishal Garg has announced a fresh set of layoffs.
According to a report by TECHLUSIVE, in this round of Better.com layoffs, the company has laid off its entire real estate team and also shut down the unit. However, it is not exactly clear how many people have been handed pink slips in this round of job cuts.
Media reports also suggest that Better.com was planning to adopt a partnership agent model from an in-house agent model. A layoffs-impacted employee of the company also reportedly alleged that they received “little to no severance, after getting a more than 50 percent salary cut in November.”

For the unversed, some months back, Vishal Garg, CEO, Better.com invited a lot criticism for laying off over 900 employees over a Zoom call. Later in the year, the company reportedly gave everyone an option to either quit voluntarily or be eventually fired.
In response to this, Better.com’s CEO has reportedly fired close to 4,000 employees till date, both in the United States and India. The report also adds that the exact number of employees affected by this round of job cuts, is yet to be determined.
Better.com layoffs add to the list of companies that have indulged in more than one round of mass layoffs. From start-ups to giants, many companies have been forced to cut jobs in the event of a global economic downturn.
