Supreme Court upheld the industrial court’s order in the case of Secretary, Public Works Department & Ors. vs. Tukaram Pandurang Saraf & Ors. C.A No. 1689/2016, allowing temporary workers to avail themselves of weekly holidays on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. The Court noted that, except for daily-wage employees, all other categories of employees are entitled to public holidays as sanctioned by the Government for these categories.
