Effective 30th November 2023 GIG workers are regulated under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982). Govt. of Tamilnadu has issued notification in this respect.
With the coverage of the Regulatory Act extended to GIG Workers, Employers shall not engage Children in GIG Works.
Effective 30 of November, provisions of following Acts would be applicable on GIG Workers in the State of Tamilnadu:
- Application of Payment of Wages of Act
- Application of Minimum Wages Act
- Application of Maternity Benefit Act
- 4. Application of Employee Compensation Act
