On rising workplace relationship instances with diversity and inclusion
There is no conclusive evidence linking the rise in workplace diversity and inclusion to an increase in workplace intimacy between two opposite sex persons. However, as workplace diversity increases, individuals may have a greater chance of meeting someone with whom they share similar interests or values, which could lead to intimate attraction.
The corporation cannot control this kind of relationships at work, not even through controlling DEI within the company, which is an important point to remember. Unless the phenomenon has a detrimental effect on the performance of the individual/team and the culture, it should not be considered an issue statement for an organisation to detect or address.
Organisations should respect people’s personal choices and lives as they have the right to pursue such personal intimate relationships with consenting adults.
