The travel and tourism industry is one of the most severely affected sectors by the pandemic in the country. During that time, employees in the travel and tourism sector experienced job loss and salary reductions. Currently, the industry is on the path to revival and has seen a positive intent of hiring, which is indicated by the 16% growth in the new jobs registered in Quarter 1 and Quarter 2. The shift may be attributed to the resurgence of “revenge travel” and “staycations.”

Other Notable hiring trends in the travel and tourism sectors include:

●        75% of registered jobs are from the following categories in Q2: Travel Agent, Tourist and Tourism Consultant and Visa Agents

●        Moreover, it was found that there was a tremendous surge in freshers/entry-level positions (0-3 years)

●        The active jobs have seen an overall 28% increase from the month of June to August, with an 8% Month on Month growth

Talking about the report, Mr. Raj Das, Global Co-Founder and CEO of Hirect India, said, “Our goal behind sharing insights from the hiring industry is to equip the recruiters and job seekers with the most recent trends and help in making an informed decision.”

Further, Raj said, “The Indian travel and tourism industry has made significant strides in 2022, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. It is heartening to note that the Government of India and the Ministry of Tourism have implemented several measures to bolster the country’s tourism sector for a healthy growth trajectory. The measures have helped boost employment in India’s hospitality and travel sectors alike, allowing employers to gain momentum in this space. Now it would be interesting to see how the trends of tourism industry shape in the coming quarters”
