Frustration with the current job or career is something that most people have to deal with at some point in time. It’s natural and can be worked through.
The reason this happens are fundamental: a loss of motivation and drive. What brings this on? A variety of reasons, but most prominently:
- Repetition and monotony make a once exciting job, now a dull chore
- Lack of recognition, promotion or growth discouraging one to make an effort
- Development of muscle memory and lack of challenge reduces the attention required and brings on lethargy
- Underutilized capabilities lead to wandering mind and a search for stimulation
- Growing out of something which was #meaningful earlier and now feels meaningless
- Degraded relationships, leading to an aversion towards the organizational environment
- Needs and aspirations changing and being unmet in the current #engagement
- And only plain attraction to something else that seems more lucrative
